DIVA Meeting March 25, 2009

Johnty – working on Bluetooth modules: waiting for batteries to arrive so that they will fit inside the box. Has made a cable for attaching the module to the glove. Also discussed the idea of including the wireless components inside the sleeve of the glove, with a plastic protection system.

Helene – have been developing a slip-on footswitch, but for the Open Ears we will go with the insole method of volume control. Working mostly on the costuming with marguerite, Meryn, and Bob at open ears. Helene went over the costume design so far, explaining what the developments have been with the costume. Sid suggested that the sleeves for the wires and cables be spiky to help give more of an insect idea. Helene has also been in contact with Fluevoeg regarding shoes and design. Discussion of the weaknesses of the footswitch. Helene has three broken ones from testing with the slipon. The one embedded in the insole is still working.

Data recorder not operating even in current mode.

Rhiannon – working on the integration of the new waveforms.

Allison – has been working on mixing the stop consonants with the vowels in transitions. Also has been writing the data recorder in C and wrapping it in Max/MSP.

Discussion followed about the protocol for the recording process for Liz’s training. Decided that a list of specific words and phrases in a menu-driven interface would be useful as part of the data recording and saving protocol.

Need to order the third Immersion Systems Cyberglove.

Need a second carry-on Pelican case for Eric’s lab.

Max/MSP license shifted over from iMac to new laptop.
