Jan 14/2009 DIVA meeting

Introductions of new members MJ, Johnty, David Sid: New duties for students:

	Johnty is looking at how to add graphics to the DIVAs via facial expression and emotion.

MJ: working on refactoring the formant synthesizer into C

Current Status: Bob/Sid: Japan performance – progress and content Allison: code development - -working with Johnty on the wireless footpedal, Bluetooth modules, and the footswitch Helene: harness/footpedal/gloves – working with Johnty on these issues. Design and adjustments are changing.

Mobile setup:

	More robust, becoming much more stable
	Software: now called the ForTouch Synthesis Instrument
	Hardware: we will consider the hardware set as is.

Eric’s lab report: Testing and video: (Martin) some tuning and timing issues remain. Johnty and Allison need to work on the code to correct this. Discussion of using a different computer in the lab. Need to go back to sampling Liz every other practice session.

Zoe: reminder of the cultural probes.

New hire from Belgium: Nicolas d’Alessandro. Will probably be arriving in September.

Given the problems in coordinating everyone in the group, different meeting times for the different sub groups (Arts, Tech, Linguistics) may need to be arranged.
